Keep It Secret.
Keep It Safe!

Hello Friend! I see you received my letter, thank you for coming. I’m called Enzqnfn but most just call me The Innkeeper. The information on this page is for your eyes only. As a colleague of mine once said, “Keep it secret. Keep it safe!”

I imagine you’re wondering why you’re here and where here even is. You’ve entered the Darkwood Inn that lies at the crossroads of all crossroads. You enter through one door and though you leave by the same door, you may find yourself entering a different world entirely.

Just last night a young child, Enfys Loom, from Solginul arrived. She told a story about an old crone with a map, a brother who’s been missing for almost 10 years and a cursed castle that appears only every seven years. I went to check on her this morning only to discover that she had vanished.

In years gone by, I would have searched for her and her missing brother myself but I am now The Innkeeper and my task is different than it once was. So, I now seek out across the endless parade of worlds for someone, like yourself, who can take my place rescuing the distressed, finding the lost and slaying the dragons along the way.

There are two questions you must now ask yourself, stranger: Will you accept this torch I hope to pass to you? If you do accept, what face will you wear as you venture forth from this Darkwood Inn?

To the first question: The castle is cursed—it appears only every seven years—and the brother has been missing for years. The young girl is nowhere to be found. If you accept my request for you to find what you can about the castle and the missing siblings, you will undoubtedly experience grave danger yourself.

To the second question: What do I mean when I ask what face will you wear when you venture forth? I said The Darkwood Inn lies at the crossroads of all crossroads. All the realities of the multitudes exist around one, central hub. Realities are like the spokes of the wheel, the hub is the True Reality. The spokes, the rim and all the spaces in-between are mere reflections and distortions of that central hub.

This Inn is not that central hub but you might consider it the truest reflection of the tiniest speck within the hub. This means you can leave here as you are or as a reflection, a distortion, of who and what you are.

If you are willing to take on this challenge, simply reply to the message that led you here. If this is not right for you, you’re welcome to stay the night or leave now and return to your life unchanged.
